A zipnut is designed to be push down onto the bolt without having to turn the nut to start on the thread of the bolt. Once the nut is pushed right down, it can be turned (screwed to tighten) like a normal nut. The advantage with a zipnut is when an astronaut or deep sea diver ais having to fasten a nut on a bolt while wearing thick, cumbersome gloves.
