Mammograms are used to examine the breasts in order to screen and diagnose. It is primarily used in the early detection of breast cancer, by means of low-energy x-rays to examine the breasts and determine whether of not any uncharacteristic masses or lumps have appeared. Successful discovery of cancer through use of a mammogram can potentially reduce mortality from Breast cancer.
