The majority of geologists are college graduates with a Bachelor of Science degree, and they are usually expected to then get a Master of Science degree. They have attended a university where they majored in the physical and Earth Sciences, taking as many geology-related courses as possible; they also have done field work (internships) where they learned to apply what they had learned in the classroom.
Typically they will hold a BSc as a minimum qualification and may also hold postgraduate / masters degrees such as MSci / MSc / MGeol as well as research postgraduate degrees such as MPhil / MRES and PhD.
Professionally qualified geologists will also be members or fellows of the relevant professional body (for example in the UK this is the Geological Society) and be entitled to use the post nominal CGeol which stands for chartered geologist.

A geologist can only become chartered after several years of mentored work across a wide spectrum of work, plus a viva-voce with a group of very experienced geologists

Some geologists work for quarries, mines, or oil and gas companies (many jobs in Calgary, Alberta, Canada).
The term geologists use for underground water is groundwater.
By looking at it
geologists!!! ... "biologists" not "geologists"...
Geologists are people who study rocks and minerals.

There are different types of geologists that study oil exploration, mineral exploration and mineral mining. There are also engineering geologists.
Geologists don't use rocks, they study them.
Geologists are often employed in oil and gas industries.
The plural of geologist is geologists. As in "the geologists are studying the meteor sample".
Oceanographers study the ocean. Geologists study the earth.
Geologists study the origins, physical history, and structure of earth.
Geologists need to know about physics, chemistry, biology and maths.
