What qualificatons do you need to be a newsreader?

You need a knowledge of the people in the news, so that you can talk about them comfortably. You need excellent reading skills. You need experience in speaking conversationally to an audience and NOT sounding as if you are reading from a script. It should also be noted that few people in media today are just newsreaders. Most began as reporters, giving them familiarity with current events. A good place to start is by taking journalism courses at a community college or a four year college, and working at a college or community newspaper, radio, or TV station.
