Humans are sinful by nature - we are born sinners because the first human named Adam sinned and so sin passes down to every human being. But Jesus is the sinless Son of God. Only a sinless person could do that for us. He died once for all people. That's why God sent Jesus to earth so He could die on the cross and take our sins on His body. Read Isaiah 53:verses 4 and 5.
