Windows 8 is very simply an upgrade of every thing in Windows 7. Design is nicer, the system is faster, etc. Also, there is a whole new start screen interface where you can not only pin programs, but look at Applications, similar to phone apps.
Much of the UI (user interface) is the same, other than the different start screen.
