The District of Columbia is a multi-jurisdiction entity. Violations of the U.S. and D.C. Codes are prosecuted by the the US Attorneys office in The US District Court for the District of Columbia. Violations of city ordnances, misdemeanor, and traffic laws are prosecuted in the District of Columbia Superior Court by the DC prosecutor's office (known as The Corporation Counsel).
