The Central Pacific Railroad was first built in Sacramento, California. The Central Pacific Railroad is the former name of the railroad network that formed part of the First Transcontinental Railroad.
The transcontinental railroad was built by the Union Pacific Railroad going west from Omaha, Nebraska. They built their part of the railroad to Promontory, Utah. The Central Pacific Railroad built the other part of the transcontinental railroad starting in Sacramento, California and built east meeting the Union Pacific Railroad.
1. First large immigrations were from the California Gold Rush of 1849; settling in America was based upon that first immigration. 2. Built the transcontinental railroad, linking up with the predominently built Irish railroad in Promontory Utah in 1869. 3. Built the levies thru-out California's Sacramento Valley.
The Chinese in America helped build the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869; were part of the 49ers in 1849; and built the levies in California's Sacramento Vallery.

The Golden Spike was driven in Promontory Point, Utah on 10may1869. The ceremony marked the meeting of the Union Pacific RR which had built westward from Omaha, Nebraska and the Central Pacific RR which had built eastward from Sacramento, California. The United States now had a Coast to Coast railroad.
