Any rear end from a 78-87 G-Body will work. This includes the Malibu, Monte Carlo, El Camino, Grand Prix, Regal, Cutlass, and 442. The only difference is that somewhere in the 80s they switched to a metric thread wheel stud. You'll need to get the appropriate lug nuts to fit. Otherwise it's a direct swap.

The first Chevrolet Malibu was produced in 1964 as a subseries of the Chevrolet Chevelle. In 1978 the Chevrolet Malibu became a model on its own, replacing the Chevelle.
The Malibu began as a trim-level of the 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle, but became its own model line in 1978.
The last Chevy Chevelle was made in 1977. Starting in 1978 the Chevelle nameplate was dropped and Chevy's midsize car was called the "Malibu" from then on. It's interesting because from the very beginning in 1964, the "Malibu" was actually a Chevelle model/trim package. Before 1978, ALL Malibu's were Chevelles, but not all Chevelles were Malibu's.
Red Zinger Bicycle Classic ended in 1978.
