Iowa and Illinois
Iowa is considered part of the Midwest region because of its geographical location in the central part of the United States. It is bordered by several other Midwest states such as Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Additionally, Iowa shares many cultural and economic similarities with other Midwest states.
The word "Iowa" is derived from the Iowa Native American tribe, which originally inhabited the region. It is believed to come from their own name for themselves, which means "beautiful land."
