The Cherokee Indians originally lived in the Appalachia area in the mountains. They were found in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee.
A year after the Cherokees made their consitiution, the Cherokee Nation, travellers found amounts of gold in Georgia, the Cherokee's homeland in the rocks. They found it in 1828.
With Andrew Jackson's encouragement, Georgia openly defied the Supreme Court, who had found the relocation of the Cherokee unconstitutional after the Cherokee had sued Georgia, and began to force the Cherokee off of their land anyeays.
