That would be hard to say as it is thought that circumcision predates the Egyptians. there is documentary evidence that the upper class Egyptians engaged in this grizzly form of mutilation in order to set themselves apart from the lower classes. the Jews were the next to adopt this and incorporated it into their religion. many years later The Muslims whose religion is based on the Jewish religion also began to expect this of their followers. Circumcision is practised through out the word and somewhat less 20% of the men of the world are circumcised, most of these for religious or cultural/ right of passage reasons.
