Lots of people do that. Everybody should have the freedom to choose a religion (or lack of religion) for themselves, no matter what religion their parents practice.
Whatever the legal age is in your area (usually 18). When still under the care of their parents, most children would probably not be allowed to decide to pursue a religion that is different than the parents' beliefs.
Unless you convert to her religion, she'll have to choose between you and her parents. You don't really want to put her in that place, so leave her alone or honestly dedicate yourself to whatever her religion is.

The kid is not not an adult so the parents make the child's decision. But nothing says the parents will choose the right religion.

No because you cannot bring religion in your classroom whatsoever and parents might have a different religion for their child. If it was a religious school...then it would be neccesary....DUHHHH
because when you are in the same religion as your mom or dad then you think you are bound to end up in the same situations and have the same problems as opposed to your friend who's parents are a different religion so they will have different things happen to them
