The Lutheran Church is the established church in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. They are the largest church in Finland. They receive direct subsidies from their respective governments. The church has suffered a serious decline in membership and weekly attendance over the last 40 years. Very few people attend church and its very sad if you ever travel to these countries and see empty pews throughout the church.
