Best Answer

She was Christian

The answer above is very doubtful and a careful reading of her writings could easily bring one to the conclusion that she was an atheist. She was at least a liberal humanist, if not an outright atheist.

However, there is a question about whether her writings were hers. How would she have known if others said something other that what she said?

In one of her letters, Helen told Bishop Brooks that she always had known about god even before she had words to express it. Even before she could call God anything, she knew He was there.
