Pilgrims. They were actually a small group of 64 people from the same small English town.
The first group seeking religious freedom in the New World were the Pilgrims. They sought and were awarded a chater to establish a colony in the new world.
One religious group that came to the new world were the Pilgrims, who arrived in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1620 seeking religious freedom. Another group were the Puritans, who settled in Massachusetts Bay in the early 1600s to establish a religious community based on their beliefs.
The group that sought religious freedom in Maryland were the Catholics, led by Lord Baltimore.
Mormons(:
the africans
The Mormon trail wasn't about seeking out new lands, it wasn't about looking for gold or riches from the land either. It was about a group of religious believers having to leave their homes in the dead of winter and seeking religious freedom. This is what makes the Mormon Trail and the journey on the trail so very different than other journeys. The only thing that is similar to it would be the Puritans leaving England seeking religious freedom as well.
