The old town is built between two small rivers - Akerselva and Alnaelva. The last kilometres of these rivers are in modern times sadly overbuilt

Akerselva runs through Oslo from the north (Maridalsvannet) to the south (Oslo Fjord). You can walk the whole lenght of it by foot on beautiful pathways. There is also a less known river called Alnaelva on the east side of the city.
