The Lead Counsel for the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund who argued for the petitioners and won Brown v. Board of Education, (1954) was future US Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. Marshall argued 32 civil rights cases before the Supreme Court and won 29 of them before being appointed as a justice in 1967.Thurgood Marshall was not the only African-American NAACP attorney working the consolidated cases of Brown v.
