It was the only thing playing a role at all in the ancient Egyptian economy!

There was no Stock Market, or currency, or multi-billion dollar corporations the might go bankrupt and take the economy with them! There was no real-estate market! There was no competitive job market! There was nothing to stimulate the economy but trade!
