For many Jewish Americans, Israel serves as a focal-point and a national home. In the same way that many Irish-Americans have strong emotions as concerns Ireland, Jewish-Americans have strong emotions concerning Israel. These emotions have only been heightened and strengthened by the unbalanced criticism that Israel receives and the historical victim-mentality that Jews have regarding discrimination and Anti-Semitism.
