They acTed as a force that frightened the Germans mostly. They eventually declared war On Germany because of the Zimmerman telegraph. This frightened the Germans and they needed to therefore win the war before US troops arrived and launched a massive offensive. This almost won however at home their economy collapsed and they lost. America had no really large battles.
