The First Fleet left Portsmouth, England, on 13 May 1787.
From there, they travelled to Tenerife in the Canary Islands, off the north west coast of Africa. Their next port was Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, then on to the Cape Of Good Hope in South Africa. From there, they headed south of the Australian continent, reaching Botany Bay before moving on to Port Jackson.

There was no Queen of the First Fleet. The First Fleet carried convicts and marines to New South Wales.

The First Fleet did not go over the Blue Mountains. It was a fleet of ships, and as such was not an inland exploration party.Lawson, Blaxland and Wentworth were the ones who first crossed the Blue Mountains, twenty five years after the First Fleet.They found their route by following the ridges, not the river valleys as previous explorers had attempted.
