The rpm required for an alternator will depend on the result that you want. At the very least, you will want 1200 rpm. The rpm's can go as high as 5000.

How do you compute the rpm of the alternator?

Crankshaft pulley diameter X RPM / alternator pulley diameter = alternator Rpm

If you reverse polarity on the battery and the fuses are fine and the alternator check out ok why would an 81 Toyota pick-up wont stay on whithout having your foot on the gas pedal?

When the truck is idling at low RPM, the charge supplied by alternator is not sufficient to run truck and charge battery of reverse polarity. Alternator expends majority of amperage toward charging (which never takes) and increase in RPM is required to spin alternator fast enough to accomodate ignition system and charging system in unison. What causes the battery light to turn on above 2000 rpm and off below 2000 rpm when a new alternator and battery were installed on a Mercury Tracer two weeks prior?

The RPM change affecting the light seems to indicate that it's the alternator. Perhaps it has a bad voltage regulator? Maybe it's not the right alternator for your car?

Why Honda accord alternator light stays on?

The light is on because the alternator is not putting out the required voltage. Either the belt is broken, loose, or the alternator is defective.

What is the time period of a wave produced by a 6 pole alternator which is driven at 1000 rpm?

20 milliseconds

Why will the volts light come on when the car is stopped and idling but goes out once you are moving?

This is a sign of a weak alternator or possibly a loose belt. At idle your car is running at a low RPM. The alternator is driven by the engine so it is also running at a lower RPM. When the vehicle is accelerated the engine RPMs go up. This in turn drives the alternator faster, and it is able to produce a higher voltage.r

Why would the battery light flicker when accelerating to 3000 rpm?

Sounds like the brushes are worn down in the alternator.

Why do your lights dim when your RPM decreases?

Because the voltage drops. Depending on what is the problem changing the battery or alternator will help.

Will a bad battery cause your car to lose power at higher rpm will it idle low at a stop?

No, but a bad alternator will.

Why does the battery light on a 2002 Civic LX come on when started goes out at exactly 4000RPMs and then will come back on at 2500 RPM even after the battery was replaced?

This is not a battery problem. Your charging system, the alternator, is not putting out enough juice to charge the battery until you reach 4000 rpm. Have the alternator and charging system checked.

What is the rpm of single phase ac generator?

How much RPM to produce an 12v dc by an alternator?

A: It all depends on the engine idle speed and cylinders. All cars at idle speed must charge the battery to 13.68 volts the RPM is a function of cinders
