Ryona is a sexual ftish common amongst hntai and gaming genres. Typically, it involves a female character being graphically harmed physically or emotionally. While the offending character is typically male, it is also common for girl-on-girl Ryona or perhaps the most common - monster Ryona.

Ryona is generally considered a sexual ftish due to the nature of the damage being done to the female character, which usually involves physical attacks to breasts, vagina, buttocks or anywhere on the body while barely clothed or nde. Often, these attacks result in the "defeat" of the female character when she either faints, is knocked out, or experiences an org*sm. Sometimes, the female character is killed during Ryona either definitively, or implied. More common however, the female character is simply "beaten" and left defeated.

Common sub-genres of Ryona include:

Tentacle - the most common and widely popular sub-genre of Ryona which involves some sort of monster/entity sexually attacking a female character. Often results in the insemination of the female character, sometimes also results in death by devouring or crushing

Vore - in which the female is swallowed alive, typically by a large animal/monster or other entity. May or may not include the character's death by digestion.

Giantess Vore - the female is swallowed alive by a giant humanoid female, sometimes after sexual activity (being licked by the giantess, or used as a vaginal toy for the giantess)

Vaginal Vore - the female character is "swallowed" by a female giantess or creature's vagina

Guro - a violent variation of Ryona in which the female character is attacked sexually in the same manner as typical Ryona, but also definitively killed in a gruesome and bloody manner

Guro Vore - similar to vore, but instead of implied death by digestion, the female character is instead devoured/chewed and eaten or gruesomely digested in the stomach of the offending creature.

Guro Vaginal Vore - similar to vaginal vore, except the female character is crushed inside the Giantess/creature's vagina

Gyaku - male character equivalent of Ryona.
