You pick the name of a saint you wish to emulate or follow as a role model for your life.
Usually, you pick a saint's name to add to your first name in honor of that saint. You could also pick the name of someone who is close to you, something like that. I just did a project on Confirmation
Because she was the Grandmother Of Christ.
If you're getting confirmed, pick the name of a saint that is closest to your first name. If there is none, pick one that's closest to your middle name. Eg. my middle name is Marie, so my saint was Maria Goretti
Usually your primary patron saint is the saint for whom you are named. Your other patron saint is the saint whose feast day falls on your birthday. You also choose a patron saint when you pick your confirmation name.
Your confirmation name doesn't have to match your name, just pick a saint who is the patron saint of something you like do or is your hobby. For example, Saint Peter is the patron saint of workers.
The reason why I picked this saint is because it's part of my middle name and I want to be able to act like him.
Because she is the Grandmother of God.
I would advise you to pick the name of a Saint who's patronage relates especially in some way to you. I suggest you check out Wikipedia's List of Saints: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_saints When you find a name you like, click on it and read up on that saint, where it should list its Patronage e.g. Mary Magdalene is the patron saint of apothecaries, converts, glove makers, hairdressers, penitent sinners, people ridiculed for their piety, perfumeries, pharmacists, reformed prostitutes, sexual temtation, tanners and women. Whichever saint relates especially to you I would choose, regardless of whether or not the name sounds right -as the purpose of a confirmation name is to pick a saint with whom you share an affinity and they will watch over you :))) xxx
Any name of a saint or blessed - male or female - may be chosen. Pick the name of a saint or blessed for whom you feel you have a special affinity.
There are a number of saints named Margaret. Please pick one of them.
