Answer It depends on what salt you mean- Table Salt will.

For instance, a solution of table salt (NaCl) and H2SO4 (Sulfuric acid) will react to produce Hydrogen Chloride gas (HCL) and Sodium Bisulfate (NaSO4). In a room temperature solution, the following ions will be present: Na+, Cl-, H+ and HSO4-. The salt and the sulfuric acid will dissociate into ions, just as they would individually when added to water.

NaCl + H2SO4 � NaHSO4 + HCl

This reaction does not require high temperatures as previously stated, as I have done this outside in the middle of winter with great results.

Strictly speaking, none. You get aqueous Mg 2+ and SO4 2- ions with H2 gas. Dissolve the water and you get MgSO4 crystals.

MgSO4 = Magnesium sulfate ( the original poster is correct about MgSO4 in solution being ionized. )
