litmus paper. it changes color depending on the amount of hydrogen ions present in the solution. higher amount of H+ ions, its acidic and will have a lower number on the pH scale. and vice versa for bases

Added:Comment:

An indicator for pH, like lithmus paper, can only tell IF a solution is acidic or basic, it can NOT measure HOW acidic (or basic) it is.

The best measurement is done in the electro-chemical way: pH-measure device (pH-meter) on the '0 to 7 to 14' scale: (arbitrarely classified, based on experience)

pH 0 - 2: very - rather strong acidic

pH 3 - 6: rather weak - very weakly acidic

pH = 7 : neutral

pH 8 - 10: very weak - rather weakly basic

pH 11 - 14 rather strong - very strong basic

pH, it is a scale between 0 and 14, where 7 is neutral (like water). pH levels below 7 are considered acidic, whereas anything above 7 is considered basic.

The pH scale measures how acidic or basic solutions are. A solution with a pH of 7 is neutral. A solution with a pH less than 7 is acidic. A solution with a pH greater than 7 is basic.

What value is ued to express the acidity or bacity of a solution called?

The acidity or basicity are expressed by pH (the negative logarithm of the activity of hydronium ion).

Are substances that change color with respect to the acidity or basicity of a solution?

These substances are called pH indicators.

What value is used to express the acidity or icity of a solution called?

The acidity and the basicity are expressed by pH (the negative logarithm of the hydronium ion activity).

What is basicity of an acid?

1- the number of replaceable OH- ions in aqueous solution, 2- no of OH- ions produced by one unit of a base in aqueous solution.

The pH scale measures?

The pH scale isn't used for measuring anything. It tells if a substance is an acid or a base. On the pH scale, 7 or more is considered a base. lower than 7, on the pH scale is considered an acid. Acids are usually sour, sweet, or have a very sweet, bitter taste. Usually Bright colors. And Bases are mostly poisons. THey have a horrible bitter taste. Some can kill you if inhaled or consumed.

Is a scale that measures the acidity or basicity of a solution along a range of zero to 14?

A P.H Scale is most commonly used to measure this stuff. 0-6 are the acids, where zero is the most acidic and 6 is the weakest acids. 7 is neutral and 8-14 are the bases. 14 is the most basic and 8 is the weakest base.

What is the system of measuring the strength of acid and bases?

The system of measuring the strength of acids and bases is called the pH scale. It measures the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) in a solution. A pH value below 7 indicates acidity, while a pH value above 7 indicates alkalinity (basicity). The pH scale is logarithmic, meaning that each unit represents a tenfold difference in acidity or alkalinity.

What does analysis do?

Blood gas analysis, also called arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis, is a test which measures the amounts of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, as well as the acidity (pH) of the blood.

What is acidity of bases?

The number of replaceable hydroxyl (OH-) Ions in a base is called the acidity of that base.
