For a 1994 mercedes that is running an older OBD 1 series computer it is hard to find scanners for. Normally all you would need to do is use a paper clip and cross two connections and watch how many times your dash lights blink and that will give you your error code.

Only if you have an OBDII scan tool. 1995 and later model vehicles require a scan tool to retrieve the trouble codes. Some auto parts stores do free scans - you might want to go there. If you want to buy a scan tool, they are available for about $70 at Walmart.

How do you reset the Check engine light on a 96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra?

This has to be done with a OBD2 scan tool. You might be able to get your local Autozone or Advanced Auto parts to do it. But different government agencies have been telling them not to do it. So you either have to buy the scan tool to do it, or pay to have someone else do it. Its cheaper probly to do it yourself. I think AutoZone has a small hand held scanner tool for 50 bucks or so. Its the same tool they use to scan your car if you ask them too. Ask them to borrow it so you can reset your light, sometimes the let you do that too..

Were can you buy a scan tool for a 1996 350 suburban?

1996 is the year that most automobile manufacturers converted from OBD I (On Board Diagnostic I) codes to OBD II codes. There are 'code scan tools' and 'engine scan tools', the difference being that codes scan tools can read the OBD codes from the vehicle and erase them, and engine scan tools do the above, in addition to read live data from all of the sensors while the engine is running. These latter tools are more expensive, but depending on the type of work that you plan on doing, you need to choose which type of scan tool that you need. I just bought an Actron CP9175 at Sears yesterday for $79.99 ($50 off) which is a code scan tool that reads OBD II codes only. The more expensive engine scanning tools often read both OBD I and OBD II codes. Sears has these tools online, as well.

How do you check the transmission fluid in a 2005 dodge magnum rt?

A Mopar special tool and a star scan is required to check the transmission fluid in any of the newer model dodge, chrysler, and jeeps. The dipstick is a special tool only available to the dealer. Anyone can buy the "Special tool". You'll need to find the dipstick for your particular vehicle or buy one from the dealer. It's referred to as a "Miller special tool". Mine was about $70, non-stock and took two days to arrive.
