Quarks were theorized in 1964 and experiementally verified in 1968. To say "invented" would be a misnomer.

This next part is a direct quote from the Wikipedia article titled "Quark" [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quarks ]:

The quark model was independently proposed by physicists Murray Gell-Mann and George Zweigin 1964. There was little evidence for this model until 1968, when electron-proton scattering experiments indicated that the electrons were scattering off three point-like constituents inside the proton. All six flavors of quark have been observed, following the discovery of the top quark at Fermilab in 1995.

The quark's existence was proposed in 1964. In 1968, experiments verified candidates for quarks in protons but were initially reluctant to declare they were actually quarks. The final quark flavor proposed in the current standard model was discovered in 1995.

What are the names of the types of quarks in protons and neutrons?

Protons and neutrons are composite particles make up of up and down quarks. There are two up quarks and one down quark in a proton, and two down quarks and an up quark in a neutron.

What is the simplest type of substance and cannot be broken down?

Quarks, gluons and gauge bosons are the simplest particles currently discovered.

What do neutrons consist of?

Neutrons consist of small particles, called "Quarks". Protons also consist of quarks, but what quarks is made of, is still not discovered.

A proton is made up of two up quarks and one down quark.

What are names for quarks?

There are six quarks, the up, down, charm, strange, top, and bottom quarks.

A proton is made up of two "up quarks" and one "down Quarks"

How many quarts do a proton have?

3 they have 2 up quarks and 1 down quarks (yes its quarks not quarts) :D

Does electron has up or down quarks?

electron has no quarks. both electrons and quarks are fundamental particles and are composed only of themselves.
