I John 4:20 states "If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen?"
Romans 13:10 "Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law."
John 13:35 "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
These verses state that we can't love God if we don't love people. We have to be able to love others. The story of the good Samaritan is an excellent example. Two of the injured man's countrymen, who were true neighbors, did not help him. But a man that was considered an enemy and probably would have been hated by the injured man chose to help him.
Luke 10:25-28
Mark 12:29-32
Matthew 22:37-40
(Deuteronomy 6:5)
Psalm 21:2 Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah. Another Great One is Psalms 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the LORD, and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
Proverbs 17:3
Leviticus 19:18: "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD."
Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
'Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understandings. in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.' Proverbs 3:5-6 it may not be th one you were looking for but it like it.
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets". (Mathew 22:36-40).
Thou shall love the Lord you God with all your heart and your physical body and your mental abilities, and your neighbor as yourself.
To love God with his whole heart, soul, and mind, and to love his neighbor as himself. Our Blessed Lord gave this in the 22nd chapter of St. Matthew's Gospel.
You may be thinking of Galatians 5 v 13 -14: 13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Since we serve God through serving our neighbor this verse certainly applies.
Good question. Maybe Psalms 37:4. It says, "Delight thyself in the Lord and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Hope this helps!
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself
That he prepared the way for Our Lord.
