The blue whale is a plankton eater, it eats very tiny creatures, such as krill or shrimp. It has baleen plates in its mouth to filter the water and catch the animals so they can be swallowed, without taking in a lot of water as well. It swallows a lot of tiny creatures in one gulp, and it takes a lot of gulps during the day. The blue whale's diet is very limited to small creatures.
