Far East is the eastern part of Russia , which includes the area of river basins draining into the Pacific Ocean and the island of Sakhalin , the Kuril Islands , Wrangel Island , the Commander and Shantarsky islands. Far East region has important geopolitical and geostrategic importance for Russia. The region has exit to two oceans : the Pacific and the Arctic and bordered by four countries ( China, Japan , USA, Korea) . In the east Russia is washed by three seas of Pacific ocean: it is Japan sea, Okhotsk and the Bering Sea. As the southern part of Kamchatka is washed by the Pacific Ocean , that is, its waters , outside the boundaries of any of the Seas.
