Davy Jones is a character in pirate lore who was said to have died at sea; his locker (the chest which held his private belongings) would be on the sea floor. "Davy Jones' locker", therefore, has become a euphemism for the bottom of the ocean.
The Kraken
Davy Jones refers to the bottom of a sea or ocean he is also a pirate that owns "the flying dutchman"
The Kraken
In the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, Davy Jones is a man who was charged by the sea goddess Calypso, his true love, to carry the souls of the dead to the next world (heaven or hell), using his ship, the Flying Dutchman. Calypso broke Jones' heart so Jones tore out his heart to be rid of the pain and abandoned the task she gave him. Instead, he became a tyrant of the sea with his ship and it's crew of damned souls.
In the movies, a religion was not mentioned for Davy Jones, nor does he acknowledge any higher power, except the sea goddess Calypso. One could take his acknowledgment of Calypso as a belief in a religion similar to those of the ancient societies such as Greek and Roman where they had gods and goddesses of various things, including the sea.
Davy Jones' locker is a nautical term referring to the seabed, where drowned sailors and shipwrecks are said to rest. The origin of the phrase is somewhat unclear, but it is commonly believed to have emerged in the early 19th century, possibly derived from the British slang term "Davy Jones," which personified the evil spirit of the sea. This concept symbolizes the ultimate fate of sailors who meet their demise at sea, serving as a metaphorical resting place for those lost to the ocean.
He killed davy jones so he had to sail on the sea for ten years so he cannot be there
In maritime mythology, the Kraken is often depicted as a giant sea monster, while Davy Jones is a character from nautical folklore, typically seen as the supernatural figure associated with the depths of the ocean. In popular culture, particularly in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, Davy Jones is portrayed as having control over the Kraken, but this connection is a fictional creation rather than a traditional belief. Therefore, while they are linked in modern storytelling, the Kraken is not traditionally considered Davy Jones's pet.
In the last two pirates movies, there is a woman called Tia Dalma. She is a VooDoo priestess of the Caribbean. However, in the last movie we learn that she is the lover of Davy Jones. Her real name is Calypso. Davy Jones had imprisoned her in a human body as a punishment for not being there when Davy came to port.
