The Earth has 4 seasons because of its axial tilt of 23 and a half degrees to the plane of the ecliptic, which causes the northern and southern hemispheres to alternately point partially toward and away from the sun.
winter
When the southern hemisphere is tilted toward the Sun it is summer there and winter in the northern hemisphere. The Earth's axis is on a tilt relative to the Sun. This means that during the year as it follows its regular orbit around the Sun, for a period one hemisphere is closer to the Sun than the other. This is what creates the seasons we have on Earth. When one hemisphere is closer to the Sun more heat is felt there. This is known as "summer". This is similar to how holding your hand closer to a flame will make your hand feel warmer. Clearly, at the time one hemisphere is closer to our Sun, the other hemisphere is further away, meaning it is in "winter". When the two hemispheres are equidistant from the Sun then it is spring in one and autumn (fall - if you're American) in the other.
The seasons are reversed south of the equator so Summer is in December and Winter is in July. It has to do with the tilt of the Earth's axis. In June, the northern hemisphere is tilted towards the sun which means it receives more hours of sunshine than the southern hemisphere and is therefore warmer than the southern hemisphere. In December, the southern hemisphere is tilted towards the Sun, receiving more hours of sunshine and is therefore warmer. Parts of Australia - particularly the northern regions, which are closer to the equater - are not cold in the winter.
Light of day does not effect earths high and low tides, the moon does. The Moon is in the gravitational pull of earths orbit. When the earth turns it pulls the moon slowly. But the moon does get ahead of the earth at some points causing high tide, but when the moon lags behind the earths pull it is low tide.
Be aware that Latin America includes Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean and South America. This means the whole region spans two hemispheres. With that being said, the hemispheres don't affect the climate at all. It however, reverses the seasons for those countries located on the southern Hemisphere, such as Brazil, Chile or Argentina. For example, when it is Summer in the northern hemisphere, the southern hemisphere is having its Winter season.

That is most likely because, according to Wikipedia, 90% of Earth's human population lives in its northern hemisphere.

They are enjoying Summer.
The deserts have 4 seasons, just like the rest of the world. The seasons change on March 21, June 21, September 21 and December 21 and the seasons depend upon which hemisphere. When the northern is having summer, the southern is having winter.Only the Australian aborigines have 5 seasons in their culture but that only applies to a small part of the world's population. The rest of us have summer, fall, winter and spring.

The northern hemisphere is located north of the equator and experiences summer during June to August, while the southern hemisphere is located south of the equator and has summer from December to February. The northern hemisphere includes countries like the United States and the majority of Europe, while the southern hemisphere includes countries like Australia and South Africa. Additionally, the seasons in the two hemispheres are opposite, with winter in one hemisphere coinciding with summer in the other.
