Fluid Problems
Low fluid is probably the most common transmission problem.Solenoid Problems
A problem related to fluid levels is a faulty solenoid.
Needle Bearings
There are several problems that can occur with the torque converters in transmission systems. The first is that the needle bearings of the converter--which separate the stator, impeller, turbine and converter housing--can be worn. If you hear noises from the transmission except while in neutral, the bearings most likely are the culprit.
Clutch
The clutch within the torque converter can jam.
No. Four speed automatic transmissions are pretty standard fare.
Automatic and standard shift.
Bad transmissions.
pink stink
Yes. I have ran Mercon in my 98 S10 manual transmission for over 150K with no problems. This truck presently is still in use with over 250K.
What year and which trans?
Generally not. Standard transmissions are for the most part, operated by linkage rods connected to the shifter. These rods push and pull the shift arms on the side of the transmission. Cables are quite common on automatic transmissions, and may in some rare cases be used on standard transmissions, but these are the exceptions, and I know of no current or past applications.
Late 1996 to 1998 year 4L60E Transmissions will work with no problems.
Yes they are cheap made transmissions. You can google most of the problems but one of the easiest fixes is to check the wiring harness were it goes in to the top of the trans.
Zero in the USA.
There are standard and automatic transmissions available for Ford Mustangs.
The question you mean to ask is about the transmissions--standard or automatic. This has nothing to do with the engine.
