The tallith is a large square or rectangle of wool, white with a few black stripes near the edges on two sides. It's worn over the shoulders. Some wear smaller talliths, or have blue stripes, but the above description is traditional.
A tallith is a fringed shawl traditionally worn by Jewish men at prayer.
Tallith
A prayer shawl called a Tallith.
The prayer shawl, or Tallith, is draped over the shoulders. It symbolizes God's encompassing nearness.
The Tallith (prayer shawl) is worn to symbolize being enveloped in the prayer and by God's presence.
1) Modest clothing 2) A head-covering for the boys. (Note that the Tallith is not worn by children.)
The Tallith symbolizes being enveloped in prayer and is a fulfillment of the precept of Zizith (fringes) mentioned in the end of Numbers ch. 15.
Any and all power comes from God alone, when one is favored because of fulfilling God's will. The tallith is one of the Torah-observances, and, like the entire Torah is therefore conducive to God's favor.
Judaism has many formal clothing requirements (the tallith, the yarmulkah ...), so it would be fair to say that Jesus wore school-uniform both when he was at study and also when he attended the synagogue. (Though there no evidence of a synagogue in Nazareth has ever been discovered).
