The USS ward was the ship that fired the first American shots during the attack on Peal Harbor

The only incident I am aware of occurred outside the entrance to Pearl Harbor shortly before the air attack. AN IJN submarine was fired upon and sunk by an American destroyer, the USS Ward. The submarine, however, was a midget submarine with a small displacement and a small crew, and it would technically qualify as a craft instead of a ship.
The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor started at 7:55 a.m. It ended at 9:45 a.m.
They were fired by the South Carolina state militia from Charleston Harbor against Fort Sumter, a federal fort in just offshore. The fort surrendered.
The battleship USS New Jersey wasn't at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. She wasn't commissioned until May of 1943. But, she's the only Vietnam War veteran battleship! New Jersey fired nearly 6,000 sixteen inch and 15,000 five inch shells at enemy targets from the gunline off the coast of Vietnam. The USS New Jersey is also history's last all gunned battleship to have fought a war.
It was the USS Ward who fired the first shots to a Japanese midget subs in the early morning of December 7, 1941 before the Japanese Imperial Army attack and bombed pearl Harbor.
The USN Destroyer USS Ward fired upon and sunk a Japanese Mini-Submarine (Midget Sub) before the air attack began.

Fort Sumter, South Carolina. The South artillery on land, fired on the Union Fort in Charleston harbor, starting the American Civil War (1861 to 1865).
Ft. Sumter in Charleston Harbor, South Carolina April 12, 1861.
The one major warning sign at Pearl Harbor happened at approximately 6:30 that morning. As a ship entered the harbor a sailor on another ship thought he say a periscope trailing behind the ship. They were able to contact a nearby ship - the Ward - who confirmed seeing signs or a sub as well. They fired on the submarine sinking it. When the message was sent it was sent encoded that they had 'fired upon' an enemy ship. The telegram did not state straight out that there was a successful attack on another ship. If it had, if it had not been encrypted - those in harbor may have had a chance to prepare for the attack.

The British fired the first shots of American Revolutionary War at Lexington, on April 18,1775.
Yes
Confederates fired on Ft. Sumter in Charleston Harbor.
Hard to say. About half the Japanese submarines participated in some way or another in the attack, though the majority were involved in screening the Japanese fleet. There were a number of mini-submarines that were to penetrate the harbor and fire two torpedoes. All of them were sunk or went aground: It was probabl I-22 or I-18 that where found and sunk first. I-16 was never found may have fired at the St. Louis though there is some belief that it actually got into the harbor and torpedoed the WV and OK. I-22 the USS Monashan (DD-354) sank it inside the harbor I-18 the USS Ward (DD-139) sank it outside I-20 experienced a mechanical failure outside of the harbor I-24 was captured after it ran aground outside of the harbor Since the attack on Pearl Harbor was a surprise air attack and everyone on the ground was racing around to fight back it's highly doubtful one would know what submarine was the first to attack considering it would have probably been quite a ways off shore and submerged.
