Albrohos Island is a chain of islands. The Batavia, a Dutch East India Company ship, was shipwrecked in 1629 near Beacon Island. There was a famous mutiny that led to its going aground. Another ship, the Zeewijk, ran aground in 1727. The remaining crew built the first Australian sloop to escape the islands after ten months.
