It depends on how long you have been together, but if you want to be original then i guess dinner and movie is out. Make it special, have flowers delivered to her. Then take her somewhere she would never expect from you. Im not sure what that is for yall but if there is anything she has been wanting to do or always wanted to try then this would be a special surprise. maybe skydiving if its something shes always wanted to try. Whatever big special thing you choose to do in the end i think you should still end it with dinner, whether it be a fancy restaurant or a picnic somewhere special to both of you. the best surprises are the most unexpected ones so do something she wouldnt expect out of you. From all the time of being with you there has to be at least one thing she has said "ive always wanted to try that" but both of you knew it would cost too much or seemed impossible. try to make it possible or do something closely related. honestly money doesnt matter its the thought that counts if she can see that you put alot of planning and thought into the night thats all that will matter to her.

What is the difference between a cliche and an original figurative expression?

A cliche used to be an original figuritive expression, but has been used to the point where everyone knows it, and if you use it, you obviously didn't put any creative thought into it. For example, the classic "cool as a cucumber." This was probably pretty witty at some point, or it wouldn't be used today. But now, if you start saying "such and such was cool as..." what immediately comes to mind is "...as a cucumber." It's predictable. And when it comes to being original, predictable is NOT the way to go! If you wanted to describe something as cool without mentioning strange green foods that turn into pickles, you may instead say something like "such and such was cool as the frost on the morning grass." I hope this helped. Now, I'm simply wondering why we call cucumbers, of all things, cool.
