There's no licensing agency per se for pastors, so there isn't any hard and fast rule; it depends on the church itself (in some cases the denomination may have minimum requirements) what qualifications are necessary. Generally speaking they'll want to see that a person is at least working towards a degree in ministry.

∙ 13y agoA youth pastor should go to college for the same reasons any other pastor should go to college, that is to be trained and educated in order to be a better minister. If a church has given charge of a group of youth to a pastor, he will need to be equipped to evangelize, to shepherd and lead this group.

I would suggest you and your friends being the first to break the sterio types people! Go talk to the Jocks, go talk to the nerds, and people in between.
