Resume the practice of abstinence from alcohol.

In addition to the above, I would suggest:

  • forgive yourself - alcohol is a seductive drug, it is hard to resist, cut yourself some slack and cut it out of your life
  • how were you doing? had you been away from booze for a long time or just a few days? is this a relapse or a wobble on the way to sobriety?
  • how big was this relapse? a drink or two or a four day bender? is this a relapse or a wobble?
  • talk to someone - and listen to them
  • why did it happen? was it a good day? a bad day? peer pressure? did you wander down the wrong aisle in the supermarket and forget yourself? were you hankering after the taste?
  • whatever the reason - what might you do to avoid that next time round?
  • feeling better? if you are a really big, really out of control drinker then a "wobble" might kill you so take this seriously

Good luck
