Vegetarians refrain from eating any product that has animals in it, including meat, poultry, fish, and Gelatin. Strict or pure vegetarians (also known as vegans) also refrain from eating anything that comes from an animal, including dairy, eggs, and honey.

That leaves plenty of healthy food, including fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and mushrooms.

Vegetarians don't eat the flesh of any animals, including mammals, fish, birds, and mollusks (e.g. clams).

Ovo-vegetarians include eggs in their diet.

Lacto-vegetarians include milk, cheese, and other dairy products.

Ovo-lacto-vegetarians include both.

Vegans include neither. Strict vegans don't eat other products produced by animals, such as honey.

Some people who avoid eating mammals but who eat fish, or possibly birds, call themselves vegetarians, but this is incorrect.

Vegetarians eat fruits, vegetables, and grains, and any other plant-based products. Common sources of vegetable protein are beans, nuts, tofu, and other processed soy products such as vegetable burgers.

Vegetarians cannot eat ANY animal product that necessitates death. This absolutely includes ANY animal; fish, turkey, lobster, shrimp, clam, oyster, etc. A vegetarian cannot eat any form of flesh, NOT just red meat!! A vegetarian cannot also eat gelatin (derived from the bones of animals), which is in many processed foods that are gummy (ie marshmallows, starbursts, skittles, etc). A vegetarian cannot eat dairy products (usually fancy cheese such as parmesan and ricotta) that have rennet in it, which is derived from a calf's stomach.

I suppose anything else is fair game, although any one who wishes to stop animal exploitation and suffering should look further into adapting a vegan diet.

They can eat pretty much everything except meat, some salad dressing (the ones that contain anchovies) and gravy. Some fast food restaurants add beef powder to their fries as well.
