  • The best thing women of any age can do if they have been stalked before or feel that they may be in danger is to take defence classes available to women to know the main points to hit a man that is stalking or accosting them. You could take your sister with you and learn to defend yourselves and that is the best you can do. Also tell your sister that if she is being stalked to go to the nearest store or house for safety; don't go out at night alone; to always keep money available for a taxi in case she should need to get home quickly. Don't park between vans and park as close to shopping malls as possible and go in and come out of the mall with a group of people if you are not with someone. Do not park cars in underground parking. Do not walk up stairs in a building when there is an elevator available. Don't accept drinks at parties (date rape drugs) even if it is non Alcoholic Beverages and to stay with the person or people they went out with and have them bring them home. Keep a cell phone at all times for emergencies and they do not need to be expensive ones.

Why do females get stalked more often than males by a landslide comparison?

The difference is not as landslide as perhaps is believed. While women are more likely to be stalked, or perhaps more likely to experience fear as a result of it, the gap in the US is isn't great enough to justify such an extreme comparison. As noted by state laws, the fear experienced by the victim is critical in the actual commission of the crime. The Department of Justice Bureau of Statistics has collected the facts:Summary FindingsDuring a 12-month period an estimated 14 in every 1,000 persons age 18 or older were victims of stalkingAbout half (46%) of stalking victims experienced at least one unwanted contact per week, and 11% of victims said they had been stalked for 5 years or more. The risk of stalking victimization was highest for individuals who were divorced or separated-34 per 1,000 individuals.Women were at greater risk than men for stalking victimization; however, women and men were equally likely to experience harassment.Male (37%) and female (41%) stalking victimizations were equally likely to be reported to the police.Approximately 1 in 4 stalking victims reported some form of cyberstalking such as e-mail (83%) or instant messaging (35%).46% of stalking victims felt fear of not knowing what would happen next.Nearly 3 in 4 stalking victims knew their offender in some capacity.More than half of stalking victims lost 5 or more days from work.
