The timing is not adjustable. The ECM controls the timing with information received from various sensors.
the 1996 s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec has the computer in the engine compartment on the left hand side....if this is true, you cannot, I repeat, cannot adjust the timing.....the computer adjust the timing....you should be able to read it on the sticker under the hood..... ------- The timing is computer controlled - no way to adjust it, the computer does all of that for you.
I have a 92 s10 blazer and my code 43 was fixed by replacing the knock sensor. so maybe check the knock sensor and the wiring from that to the ECM.

-First you must disconect a small wire under your glove box down by the floor mat before you can start timing, (its a small brown wire) -Hook up your timing light to the #1 spark plug. -Start your engine and see currently where your timing is at. -From there lossen your distributer and adjust accordingly. -You may advance your s-10 slightly. but it also has electronic timing is it will adjust a little when u have it set close. what degree to set at
probably the ignition switch if you are refering to the starter solenoid.
