Before you pick up your hamster you should already get the cage set up and cleaned out because as soon as the hamster gets home it's gonna want to go in it's cage so prepare everything before you get your new hamster.
It's pretty much luck of the draw with hamsters. You could get one that bites or that is mean or one that is the nicest and most snuggly one ever. Usually the pet stores will take them back if they are mean and you can get a different one but if you think you have a mean one once you get it home you should still keep it for 8-10 days and work with it. If it still hasn't improved then you should probably take it back to the pet store. You also should know what you need: * Cage * Bedding * Food * Treats * Something they can chew on: chew sticks are the best thing to use DO NOTuse something lieing around your house. Buy the specific kind at the store. * Waterbottle and food dish: Some of the cages come with them and some don't. * Igloo home * Wheel * Hamster Ball It is best just to get one hamster instead of two because usually if you have to in the cage then one will eat the other or else they will fight. Some people thjink that they shpould pet it right when you get it home but it is much better to let it get used to its cage for about two das and then start to let it get to know you. And don't ever give up on it right away. Just work with it and it may get better. Hope this helps!!
Here are some things that you'll need for a hamster...
ID wow. :( you just do not know things do you. HA! ok you should ask how big your hamster should be on internet on a hamster website and if it is bigger or fatter than it said how fat it should be at a certain age then it is overweight
You should take her/him to the vet. But first make sure that her/his mouth or anything in it's mouth isn't bleeding. Then pack a bag with food, water and anything else that your hamster needs, because you never know how long you will be at the vet. Then be on your way.PS: Don't under any circumstances put ice on her/his mouth.
Honey, I was wondering the exact same thing before my hammy died...I hope that didn't scare you ... >> Well, for a hamster to have a concussion, it must've taken a fall. Therefore no fall, no concussion. Since hamster's can't puke or anything, it's hard to tell. If your hamster is kind of out of it, not walking straight, disoriented, it just might have a concussion. However, you should take your hamster to the vet. They probably won't charge you anything if they don't do anything besides diagnose, so don't worry about the cost. Either way simple hamster procedures (sorry, I couldn't think of another word. I mean like putting on a little cast kinda of idea) only cost $50 or less. I don't think that they'll be needing to do any of that, they'll just give you any advice if your hamster does have a concussion. Best of luck with that,
you cant all ways know with a hamster because some can be over weight and some can be under weight so you should way your hamster to no.But an average hamster should way at theperfect amount of 100,000,000,000,000 pounds
You should put it in the hamster's "home" and leave it alone for a day or two, so it can get comfortable with its' new surroundings. You can though, still give it attention, but try not to "overload" it.
Obviously, your hamster is still scared of you. Try petting it, fedding it, anything that will make a hamster get to know you better.
hamster does not know what you are saying. so can't do anything
Clip it... you should know that... kinda obvious!!!
Your parents, they should always know whats going on online.

Squeeze your hamsters bum gently if anything comes out its a boy.
hamster tumors are just the same as a humans. When you start to feel small or large bumps on a hamster you will know that its a sign and you should immediately take your hamster to the vet, and they will see what they can do, or if your hamster is in pain, they can put your hamster to sleep humanely.
You shouldn't let them go that far! You should get to know them before you try anything!

He'll have a little fluffy erection and he should be inserting it into the other hamster, assuming that the other hamster is a female.
Is there anything special I need to know before steam cleaning furniture? I plan to rent a unit this weekend. Thanks!
