The first thing you need to do is have it X-rayed to make sure it isn't broken. If it is a sprain, then you need to keep it elevated, with ice packs to help reduce the swelling and pain. You also need to not walk on it until the swelling and pain have abated.
I have had this happen to me before so make sure you keep it elevated!

Umm...i dont see why you would want to...but if you twist your ankle usually it swells up and then leads down to your foot....OUCH...
Sounds like it might be poor circulation, but you should really see a physician for an accurate diagnosis.
