First, determine what the cause of the shivering is. It is most likely due to fear or low body temperature. If your hedgehog is newly adjusting to its home, it may just be scared. Make sure he/she has something to hide in, and give them time to adjust to new surroundings. If it is due to the cold, you could brave the quills and take a kangaroo-care approach, i.e. holding the hedgehog against your stomach under a towel to share body heat. Or, you could fill a quart size ziploc bag with hot water, then put that in a bigger plastic bag to reduce risk of leaks, and set a towel over that. Set your hedgehog on it and it's a makeshift heat pad until you buy a real one.

∙ 12y agoYou should really take it to the vet because it can get skinny and die. It probably have a virus in its stomach or have depression. Trust me i have 2 hedgehogs and my oldest female went through this kind of problem.
