That happens to mine a lot. The easiest solution is to completely shut down your Nook and wait a couple of minutes. Then restart it. It might take a couple of minutes to restart again, so you need to be patient. Good luck!
Press and hold the power button for a long time (15+ seconds) and then pressing the button again briefly should work to reset the device, stopping you having to take the battery out. Note that nothing will change on the face of the Nook (the screensaver won't vanish as suggested in the user's guide) when you have successfully turned it off, and you must press the button one time more after holding it down. Then it should reset

Ive owned both , the nook color freezes, and is not useful after a couple of days and games cost WAY more. Kindle is way better, very useful, cheap popular games, and has cloud.
There is no Nook 2 or Nook Lite coming up. There is a Nook Color, which I think has decreased the price of the Nook. But you can check in the Barnes and Nobles website.
