It sounds gross, but you have to reach up in your vagina with your fingers and pull the tampon out. There really isn't another safe way to do it other than having a doctor remove it (which isn't necessary). DO NOT try to pull it out with anything other than your fingers.

∙ 9y agoIf the tampon string breaks simply remove the tampon with your fingers - there is absolutely nothing gross about inserting fingers into your vagina, it's your vagina and it's not dirty.
Consider all the other things that can be inserted vaginally which don't include a string - cloth tampons, menstrual sponges, soft tampons, softcups, menstrual cups, caps, diaphragms, shields, and some sex toys for example. A string is not needed to remove things from your vagina, it just makes removal a little easier if you can just pull on a little string to remove them.

If a tampon doesn't have a string then you simply reach into your vagina, with clean hands, and grab hold of the tampon itself to pull it out - sponge and soft tampons don't have strings, people manage to remove these just fine. There are lots of other things that go into your vagina without strings too, such as menstrual cups, softcups, diaphragms, and cervical caps.

No, not neccessary. The tampon should be inside, beyond the urethra and not be affected, only the string and that should be OK for the next few hours.

Yes. Unless you are on a period you shouldn't be using a tampon and if you are you need to change it several times a day. The bacteria is what causes the TSS and it can kill you. I hope you have stopped doing this.

Tampons can't get stuck inside you. Tampons can go no further than your vaginal canal, this is because at the top of the vaginal canal is the cervix (opening to the uterus) and a tampon cannot pass through this. As long as you relax and you're using tampons correctly you can remove a tampon - if you struggle then you'd need to see your doctor for help to remove the tampon.
