In order to understand God as much as we can, we have to speak in human terms to convey what God means or does. Thus we speak of God being angry or jealous - this conveys the depth of God's feeling by comparing it to our human emotions so that we can understand it.
There are several ways that you can hear God. 1. You can hear God through your dreams - God communicates to you in your dreams and your dreams highlight things that have or are about to happen. Through this God can make you aware of certain things. 2. You can hear from God through Visions- Again visions can pinpoint events in your life that will change your life. 3. You may have the gift of knowledge - Seeing things before thy occur, but are powerless to stop them. 4. You can hear from God through another person. God may be trying to focus your attention on something that would benefit you in future. God will speak through that person to get to you. 5.Your resident Pastor may have a revelation about you. He will call you perhaps to his office and tell you. There are more ways that you can hear from God, but these according to me are the main ways in which God can speak to you.
The simple and universal answer is yes. If you believe in a god (upper case, lowercase, singular, plural, male, female or unknown) and you speak to him/her/them/it, you will be heard.

Nobody really knows. They may be related or may not. I'm suprised when I hear an abductee speak of their experiences yet have not asked about God or if they even believe.
